Everything you might want to know before an evening with Diaspora, and a few things worth knowing once you've booked.
Booking & payment
How do I book a dinner?
Start with the reservation form or write to info@diaspora.dk with your date, guest count and any idea of the occasion. We then shape a bespoke proposal (menu, staffing and price) and confirm everything in a booking invoice.
When is the booking confirmed and how do I pay?
To secure your date, full payment of the agreed amount is due at the time of confirmation. The booking is only considered confirmed once payment has been received in full.
What is your cancellation policy?
All cancellations are made in writing to info@diaspora.dk. Refunds are calculated against the full amount paid:
- 6 or more days before the event: full refund.
- 3 to 5 days before: 60% refund; 40% is retained as a cancellation fee.
- Less than 3 days before: no refund.
Can I change the menu or guest count after booking?
Yes, with notice. Any changes to the menu, guest count or arrangements must be sent in writing no later than 6 days before the event and are subject to availability. Approved changes may affect the final amount. A reduction in guest count after this deadline does not reduce the agreed amount.
Your evening
What's included in the service?
As set out in your booking invoice, the service includes:
- A bespoke menu prepared on site by the private chef.
- All ingredients needed to deliver the agreed menu.
- Day-of logistics: transport of equipment, mise en place and service flow.
- Additional team members (cook, bartender, waiting staff) when specified.
- Cleaning of the kitchen and work areas we use during the event.
We leave the kitchen and service areas as we found them. General cleaning of the wider venue is not included unless agreed in writing in advance.
Where do the dinners take place?
In your home or chosen venue. We bring the kitchen to you. You provide a functional kitchen environment, and we handle the rest (see venue requirements below).
How long does the service last?
The duration of chef, bartender and waiting-staff service is agreed individually based on the nature and scale of your event, and confirmed in writing beforehand. If service runs beyond the agreed end time, an additional fee of DKK 500 per hour, per staff member, applies.
What do I need to provide at my venue?
A functional kitchen environment: reasonable workspace, electricity, water, refrigeration where applicable, and access for unloading equipment and ingredients. If the kitchen turns out to be unsuitable on arrival, we'll deliver the best experience possible with the resources available.
Food & drink
Can you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?
Absolutely, we just need them in good time. All allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements must be shared in writing no later than 6 days before the event, and it's the host's responsibility to gather them accurately for every guest.
Please note: our kitchen and equipment handle nuts, shellfish, gluten, dairy and eggs, so we cannot guarantee the complete absence of cross-contamination.
Who provides the drinks?
Unless agreed otherwise in writing, alcoholic beverages are provided by the client. When we provide bartender or waiting staff, the team may decline to serve any guest who is visibly intoxicated or under the legal drinking age in Denmark.
Good to know
Will the evening be photographed?
We may photograph or film the food, table setting and atmosphere for our portfolio, website and social media. No guest is identifiably featured without consent, and you're welcome to opt out entirely by letting us know in writing before the event.
How is my personal data handled?
Any data you share to arrange your event is processed in line with the GDPR and Danish data protection law, and is never shared with third parties except where strictly required to deliver the service. You can read the full Privacy & Policy for details.
How should I send changes or formal messages?
All formal communication (changes, cancellations, dietary disclosures) should be sent in writing to info@diaspora.dk. Messages through informal channels such as SMS, WhatsApp or social media aren't treated as formal notice.
